Dr. Thomas Purgett
received his undergraduate degree from the University of Illinois and
his Medical Degree for the University of Illinois Medical Center in
Chicago. He completed a surgical internship and residency at the
University of Texas Southwestern Parkland Hospital in Dallas. After
completion of his surgical training he joined Surgical Associates of the
Mid-Cities in 1991.
Dr. Purgett is Board
Certified by the American Board of Surgery and is a fellow of the
American College of Surgeons and the Southwestern Surgical Congress. He
serves on the Medical Executive Committee at Baylor Medical Center
Grapevine and has been Chief of Surgery at that hospital since 1996.
Areas of interest in
general surgery include endocrine surgery and advanced laparoscopic
procedures, including inguinal hernia repair and fundoplication for
gastroesophageal reflux disease.
